Microsoft Google Amazon Say Anthropic Claude Available to Non-defense Customers

Seattle: Big tech companies are saying customers can still use Anthropic Claude’s AI technology. Microsoft and Google say Claude will stay available through their products. Amazon’s cloud service also lets customers keep using Claude.

Silicon Valley: The U.S. Department of Defense says Anthropic is a supply-chain risk. This happened because Anthropic would not give the department full access to its technology. Anthropic worried about uses like mass surveillance.

Washington DC: The Pentagon cannot use Claude on its systems anymore. Other companies that work with the military must say they do not use Anthropic models. Anthropic plans to fight this decision in court.

San Francisco: Microsoft will keep offering Claude through Office and other products. Google says Claude stays available on Google Cloud. Amazon tells customers they can use Claude for non-defense work.

This echo comes from Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei. He says the designation only affects contracts with the Department of Defense. Other uses of Claude remain allowed. Anthropic says more people use Claude now than before the dispute.
