OpenAI is reshaping its leadership to enhance its business sales, focusing on enterprise growth as competition heats up in 2026.

City: San Francisco: OpenAI is making big changes to catch up in business sales. They hired Barret Zoph to lead their efforts. He just returned from Thinking Machine Labs, where he was a co-founder and CTO.
The company wants to boost its enterprise services because it is losing market share. OpenAI launched a ChatGPT product for businesses in 2023. It now has over 5 million business users, including big names like SoftBank and Target.
However, they face tough competition. Anthropic has 40% of the market for enterprise AI, and Google’s products are also growing. OpenAI’s market share fell from 50% in 2023 to just 27% by the end of 2025. CEO Sam Altman noted this drop in an internal memo.
Since then, OpenAI’s CFO mentioned that growing enterprise sales will be a key focus for 2026. The company is also expanding a partnership with ServiceNow to get their AI products into more businesses.
