Amazon Acquires Fauna Robotics to Develop Kid-Size Humanoid Robots

New York: Amazon has bought Fauna Robotics, a company that makes small robots that look like people.

The company started two years ago and was founded by engineers who worked at Meta and Google. Amazon will move Fauna’s workers, including the founders, to New York City. Amazon wants to use its knowledge of robotics and home devices to create new helpful products.

Fauna recently began shipping its first robot called Sprout. Sprout weighs 59 pounds and walks on two legs. It was sent to some research partners for testing this year.

This is Amazon’s second robot company purchase this month. Amazon also bought Rivr, a company in Zurich that makes robots that can climb stairs. Rivr’s robot delivers packages.
