Apple Expands Creator Tools by Acquiring MotionVFX

San Francisco: Apple has acquired MotionVFX, a company that makes special tools for video editing. The company creates things called plug-ins, templates, and advanced effects that work with Apple’s Final Cut Pro software.

MotionVFX has been helping video editors for more than 15 years by making high-quality tools that are easy to use. The Warsaw-based company says it is excited to join Apple and continue making great tools for creators. The amount of money Apple paid for MotionVFX was not shared with the public.

MotionVFX offers video editing tools starting at $29 per month. When Apple buys companies like this, they usually add the tools to their own services. This helps Apple compete better with Adobe’s video editing programs.

Apple already has something called Creator Studio, which is a bundle of creative apps. It costs $12.99 per month or $129 per year and includes apps like Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro, and Pixelmator Pro. MotionVFX’s tools will likely become part of this bundle to attract more people to subscribe.

Apple’s services business, which includes things like App Store and subscriptions, has grown a lot. It now makes up more than 26% of Apple’s total money earned, up from just 8.5% in 2015. This shows why Apple keeps buying companies that add to its services.
