Apple has released a new lightweight update to fix a Safari security bug on iPhones, iPads, and Macs.

San Francisco: Apple has published its first background security improvement update to fix a bug in Safari’s browser engine.
The update patches a flaw in WebKit, which powers Safari and other apps on Apple devices. A security researcher found this bug that could let harmful websites access data from other sites during the same browsing session.
Apple explains that background security improvements are lightweight updates that fix important security problems. These updates go to devices between bigger software updates and work with iPhone iPad and Mac software versions 26.1 and higher.
The updates can fix parts of Safari, its engine, and other system tools that need regular security fixes.
Apple did not explain why this specific bug needed fixing. When we downloaded the new update it only needed a quick restart instead of the longer reboots for bigger updates. Before this first background security improvement Apple tested similar fixes with software testers.
