DeleteMe acquires Block Party, a social media security tool, to offer integrated solutions for online privacy protection

San Francisco: Block Party founder Tracy Chou announced today that her company has been acquired by DeleteMe.
Block Party makes tools that help people stay safe from online harassment on social media platforms like Twitter, TikTok, and Instagram.
DeleteMe removes personal information from websites that collect and sell people’s data to others.
Chou started Block Party in 2018 after she had problems with online harassment herself.
The company raised $4.8 million in 2022 to expand to other social networks.
However, when Elon Musk bought Twitter and raised API prices, Block Party had to quickly change plans and support other platforms.
Block Party grew into a browser add-on that works with more than a dozen social media sites.
Chou said she became briefly famous for her work promoting diversity in tech companies.
The attention made her feel unsafe and exposed, so she looked for ways to protect her personal information online.
She discovered DeleteMe could remove her data from people-search websites.
But no tool existed to help protect people on social media platforms.
This gap inspired her to create Block Party.
Now Block Party will become part of DeleteMe to offer combined protection for social media and personal data.
Customers will be able to get both services from one company.
Current Block Party users won’t see changes immediately.
The company will share more details as they combine the services.
Chou said people shouldn’t have to choose between speaking online and staying safe.
The purchase price was not made public.
