The DJI Action 6 improves video quality with a larger sensor and variable aperture, making it the top choice for action enthusiasts.

New York: The DJI Action 6 is an amazing action camera. It now shoots 8K video after a 2025 update, though earlier reviews missed this. The new sensor is a 1/1.1-inch square, which allows for more styles of shooting, including vertical video. But cropping from the largest setting to 16:9 does not give great results.
The larger sensor offers better stabilization, letting you enjoy a wider view. The coolest new feature is the variable aperture lens that can change from f/2 to f/4. This helps the camera take clearer videos in low light. You can use f/2 when surfing at sunset or switch to f/4 when you’re inside.
Even without using SuperNight mode, the video quality is impressive. However, the camera can still have noise, and you cannot adjust the bitrate to fix it. Still, the Action 6 provides the best low light performance among action cameras.
One worry is the camera’s new mechanical parts. People often use action cameras in rough conditions. Time will tell if this design holds up well.
