Eat App Seeks to Capture India’s Restaurant Reservation Market with Swiggy Deal

Dubai: Eat App is a restaurant reservation startup that wants to grow its business in India. They plan to do this with new fundraising, an acquisition, and a partnership with Swiggy. This will help restaurants combine all their reservation information in one place to grow their business.

Eat App raised $10 million recently, more than the $6 million it got in 2022. Now, the total funding Eat App has received is over $23 million. The company helps over 5,000 restaurants in 92 countries, with India being a big focus lately. In just a year, they have teamed up with over 2,000 restaurants there.

India’s restaurant industry is expected to be worth more than $85 billion by 2028. Many restaurants depend on walk-ins and have to manage reservations from different services like Zomato, Swiggy, and EazyDiner. To grow faster, Eat App bought a rival called ReserveGo and teamed up with Swiggy to sell its restaurant service.

ReserveGo started in 2022 by Vijayan Parthasarathy, who knows a lot about restaurant reservations. It has successfully managed over 5 million reservations each month without any issues. Eat App is also working with Swiggy to promote its restaurant products, bringing its total to more than 2,000 restaurants.

Swiggy’s Dineout alone served over 23.8 million covers in 2025. Arpit Mathur, from Swiggy, said this is a great time for restaurants in India, and Eat App’s technology can help them serve customers better. The partnership is called GroMax, which also allows restaurants to promote themselves on Meta and Swiggy.

Before focusing on India, Eat App’s largest market was the UAE. Nezar Kadhem, the CEO, believes India offers similar growth opportunities. However, restaurants face challenges in attracting customers and managing reservations from many sources. Parthasarathy pointed out that top restaurants mainly operate on reservations, while many others need help managing their seating efficiently.

Eat App has competition from other international firms and local services. Some restaurants may not see the need for aggregation software, so Eat App needs to show that its services provide real value to them.
