Elon Musk Shares Ambitious Predictions at Davos Conference This Year

Elon Musk made bold predictions at Davos about robots, aging, and AI, highlighting his unique blend of optimism and ambition.

Elon Musk Shares Ambitious Predictions at Davos Conference This Year

Switzerland: Elon Musk, who is the richest man in the world, is really good at making money. He has a less perfect record when it comes to predicting the future.

Over the years, Musk made many surprising predictions about self-driving cars, space travel, and robots. Many of these forecasts did not come true. However, at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Musk seemed aware of his track record and said, “For quality of life, it’s better to be an optimistic person who is wrong than a pessimistic one who is right.”

Musk has several companies that work in many areas, like cars, robots, and space travel. Because of this, his predictions can really affect global markets. Here are some of the things Musk said at Davos:

Aliens Don’t Exist (Probably)

During his talk, Musk joked about aliens while chatting with Larry Fink, the CEO of BlackRock. He said, “We have 9,000 satellites up there, and not once have we seen an alien spaceship. Life might be very rare, and it could just be us.”

Humanoid Robots Will Change Lives and Be Available by 2027

Musk has talked about Optimus, Tesla’s humanoid robot, since 2021. Now, he says Tesla plans to create many robots by 2025. But right now, the robot’s hand still doesn’t work well. At Davos, Musk said that if robots and AI were free and everywhere, it would lead to incredible growth in the economy. He believes there would eventually be so many robots that they could meet all human needs.

Robotaxis Will Be Common in the US by 2027

In 2025, after many years of promises, Tesla started a robotaxi service in Austin, Texas. Although these taxis had a safety monitor, Musk claimed most people in the US would have robotaxis by the end of 2027. Now he says these robotaxis will be “common by the end of this year.” However, that might be too optimistic, and the company is still working on taxi services in some states with easier rules.

Human Aging Is a Solvable Problem

Musk admitted he hasn’t looked into human aging much. Still, he believes that there will be a solution to it. He said, “When we find what causes aging, it will be very obvious.”

SpaceX Will Finish a Fully Reusable Rocket This Year

SpaceX has worked on its Starship rocket for ten years but missed many deadlines. Musk said last year that the Starship rocket would be reusable by the end of this year. He believes this change will greatly lower space travel costs, allowing it to compete with air freight. While SpaceX has had successful tests, it may be hard to meet this goal by the end of the year.

AI Will Be Smarter Than Humans This Year and All of Humanity by 2035

Musk has been involved in developing AI while also worrying about its future. At Davos, he said he believes AI will be smarter than all humans this year and smarter than everyone by 2035. However, the true meaning of “smarter” is still up for discussion. Others in the tech world have different views on how close we are to creating powerful AI.
