Kansas: General Motors is changing where it makes its cars. They will move production to a U.S. factory in Kansas. This change means the Chevrolet Bolt EV, currently made in Kansas, will stop being produced in about a year and a half. The Bolt is one of the most affordable electric cars in America, priced at $29,990.

These changes are happening because of new rules and costs. For example, the Trump administration made tariffs that increased costs for building cars in China and Mexico. This made it harder for GM to sell those cars in the U.S.

Starting in 2028, the next-generation Buick Envision will also be made in the Kansas factory. This model is currently built in China. The gas-powered Chevrolet Equinox, which is made in Mexico, will also move to Kansas in mid-2027.

A GM spokesperson said the Bolt had a limited run and they plan to bring other cars to Kansas. GM still sells other electric cars like the Chevy Equinox and Chevy Blazer. They may invest in the Kansas factory for future affordable electric cars, but the timeline is still unclear.
