Google Photos now allows you to make memes using your own pictures with a new AI feature called Me Meme that’s launching soon.

This feature will first be available to people in the U.S. Google announced it on Thursday. The idea was spotted last October by a blog called Android Authority. Google says that this feature is experimental. They suggest using clear, bright, and front-facing photos for the best results.
“Me Meme” is meant to be a fun way to play with your photos. It uses Google’s AI technology, including something called Nano Banana. Google Photos already has other cool AI features, like re-making pictures in different styles, such as cartoons.
Even though this feature is light-hearted, it encourages users to return to Google Photos instead of trying other apps. People like features that include their own images, similar to what’s found in the Sora app that creates videos with AI that show users and their friends.
“Me Meme” hasn’t launched everywhere just yet, so you might not see it in your Google Photos app right away. It will show up under the “Create” tab. Google says it will be available for iOS and Android users in the U.S. in the coming weeks.
To use the feature, you pick a template or upload your own. Then, tap “add photo” and “Generate.” More templates will be added later. After the AI creates your meme, you can save it, share it, or tap “regenerate” to create a new version.
