HigherDose Red Light Hat Review: Scalp Savior (2026)

San Francisco: I like gadgets that look cool and work well. The HigherDose red light hat really surprised me. It looks just like a normal baseball cap that you can wear anywhere.

You can wear this hat for about 10 minutes. It has 120 small lights inside. These lights shine red light on your scalp to help your hair grow better. The lights are a special color called 630 to 660 nanometers.

The battery pack sits on the back of the hat. You can remove it if you want to wear the hat without people knowing it’s special. There’s also a strap to make the hat fit better. You can even put your ponytail through a hole in the back.

Using this hat feels a bit like using a special hair brush. Sometimes my hair felt oily after using it. This happens because the red light locks in moisture. So I usually wore it before taking a shower.

The hat uses FDA-cleared technology. This means the FDA checked that the hat is safe and works similar to other approved devices. But it’s not the same as full FDA approval.

When I first started, my hair looked thin in some spots. I could see little patches where my hair was growing back. Some spots had scabs from my picking habit. But after wearing the hat for months, my hair looks much better now.
