A confidential informant told the FBI in 2017 that Jeffrey Epstein had a personal hacker who sold zero-day exploits to countries and groups

The papers do not say who the hacker was. But they have many details about him. The hacker was from Italy and grew up in a place called Calabria in the south. He knew how to find weak spots in iPhone systems and BlackBerry phones. He also knew about problems in the Firefox web browser.
He made special computer tools that could break into systems. He sold these to different countries. He sold to the United Kingdom, the United States, and also one country in Central Africa. The papers say he sold a tool to a group called Hezbollah. They paid him with a car trunk full of cash.
The hacker was very good at his job, the person who talked to the FBI said. He could always find new ways to break into computer systems. But this information came from just one person talking to the FBI. We do not know if it is all true or not.
On Friday, the Justice Department shared 3.5 million more pages about Epstein. These new papers have many videos and pictures. Some parts were hidden with black marks.
