Spanish startup Multiverse Computing launches tools to make AI models smaller and more efficient for businesses and devices

San Francisco, California: A Spanish company called Multiverse Computing is making waves in the AI world by creating smaller artificial intelligence models that can run on phones and devices without needing powerful computers in faraway data centers.
AI models usually need lots of computer power and cost lots of money to run. These big models work in giant buildings called data centers. But Multiverse Computing has found ways to squeeze these big models down to smaller sizes while keeping them smart enough to be useful.
The company just launched two new tools for people to try. One is an app called CompactifAI that lets you chat with an AI on your phone. It uses a tiny model called Gilda that can work without the internet. The app chooses automatically between using the small local model or the bigger cloud version depending on your phone’s memory and storage.
For computer programmers and businesses, Multiverse made an API portal. This lets developers access their small models directly without going through big tech companies. The CEO says this gives people more control over how they use AI. The company already works with over 100 customers including big names like Bosch and the Bank of Canada.
Making models small has big advantages. They cost less money to run, don’t need internet connections, and keep data private since nothing leaves your device. These small models can go places where big models can’t, like inside drones or satellites where there’s no internet. Even though they’re tiny, the models are getting better at tasks like answering questions and helping with computer programming.
