Rivian completes winter testing for VW ID.EVERY1, securing major investment boost.

Boston: Rivian and Volkswagen have finished testing a new electric vehicle during the winter. This vehicle, called the ID.EVERY1, uses Rivian’s software and electrical systems. The testing is important because it was part of an agreement between the two companies. When testing finished, Volkswagen gave Rivian another $1 billion.
Most of the money, about $750 million, is from buying part of Rivian as an equity investment. The other $250 million could be more investment or become debt later. Volkswagen has already put more than $3 billion into Rivian’s projects. They plan to give even more money, possibly up to $5.8 billion in total.
Rivian is working on making more electric vehicles, including the new R2 SUV. This SUV is very important to Rivian’s plan for fast growth. The company wants to make and sell many of these cars to become bigger and stronger in the electric vehicle market.
