TikTok Finalizes Deal to Create New US Entity and Safeguard Against Ban

New York: TikTok’s parent company, ByteDance, has made a big deal with some American investors. This new venture will be mostly owned by Americans. This deal helps keep TikTok running in the U.S. It ends a long fight that started in 2020 when former President Trump wanted to ban the app due to national security worries.

Adam Presser, who worked as TikTok’s head of operations, will be the new CEO of TikTok USDS Joint Venture LLC. TikTok’s current CEO, Shou Chew, will also help as a director.

The three main investors in this new venture are Oracle, Silver Lake, and MGX from Abu Dhabi. Each of them will own 15%. There are also smaller investors, including a firm from Michael Dell’s family.

TikTok said that the new joint venture will have strong rules to protect American users. They will focus on keeping data safe and making sure the app is secure.

The new venture will have a board with seven members, including CEO Shou Chew. Other members include advisors and CEOs from well-known companies.

Former President Trump was happy about the deal and shared his thoughts on social media. He said the app is now owned by “Great American Patriots and Investors” and will be an important voice.
