Santa Monica: Health tech company TriZetto said thieves stole personal and health data from 3.4 million people. The company serves 200 million people across the United States through 875,000 healthcare providers.

TriZetto found the problem on October 2. However, thieves first got access in November 2024. This means the company did not know about the breach for close to one year.

Hackers took data from insurance reports. The stolen information includes names, birth dates, addresses, and Social Security numbers. Thieves also got healthcare details like medical providers’ names and insurance information.

A spokesperson said the company “removed the threat.” However, they would not explain why it took a year to find the breach. Other healthcare groups have said their patient data was also stolen.

Not every customer had their data taken, according to TriZetto. This is not the only big healthcare data theft recently. Another company called Change Healthcare lost data from more than 192 million patient files last year. Some people could not get medical treatment because of that attack.
