UpScrolled Founder Claims Platform Hits 2.5 Million Users

UpScrolled social network surpasses 2.5 million users globally, positioning itself as an alternative to major platforms amid concerns about data privacy and content moderation.

UpScrolled Founder Claims Platform Hits 2.5 Million Users

Doha: Social network UpScrolled gained lots of users since January. Founder Issam Hijazi shared news at Web Summit Qatar. His company claims it crossed 2.5 million users.

Rapid User Growth Sparks Attention

UpScrolled launched about six months ago with far fewer users. In early January about 150 thousand people used the platform. Just days ago the network reached one million users globally. Starting today the company says more than two and a half million people use UpScrolled around the world.

Platform Combines Features from Other Apps

UpScrolled blends parts of Instagram and X (formerly Twitter). The company wants everyone to feel included. It allows all kinds of content to be shared openly. Unlike many platforms the company says it does not shadowban or censor people’s posts.

Privacy Concerns Drive Platform Choice

Big tech companies often sell user data to make money. They collect information about what people do online. These companies also design apps to keep people using them longer. Hijazi says this hurts mental health. Some users also worry about unfair content removal.

Concerns about data privacy push people to try UpScrolled. Too much inappropriate content has been reported by some users. The company plans to create clear community rules. These rules will follow laws in different countries worldwide. Youser feedback helps shape these guidelines.

Competing with Major Social Networks

UpScrolled is not the only new social network gaining users lately. TikTok changed how it owns its American business in January. A group of investors like Silver Lake and Oracle now own most shares. ByteDance still keeps twenty percent ownership. This change pushed many TikTok users to try alternatives.

Other new platforms like Skylight also gained users recently. These apps might get a short boost from TikTok changes, only but keeping users needs strong features. Building good communities takes time and effort. Creating fair rules that everyone accepts proves challenging. Many networks struggle with balancing free speech and safety.
