India’s PC market hits record high in 2025 as lockdown-era buyers upgrade devices, pushing shipments past previous pandemic peaks
Many people in India bought their first computers during lockdowns when they needed to work and study from home. Now, those computers are getting old, so people want to buy new ones. Rising use of digital services in more cities and towns is also helping more people get computers.
India now gets 5.6% of all PC shipments worldwide, up from 3.3% in 2020. This shows how fast India’s market is growing. Businesses bought more than half of all computers sold in 2025. Some companies are replacing old computers because of new Windows updates. Small businesses are also getting more computers.
HP, Lenovo, Dell, Acer, and Asus were the biggest computer sellers in India. But Apple, which makes Mac computers, has a smaller share in India than in America. Only about 5.6% of India’s computer sales are Macs, while in America, more than 20% are Macs.
Most Mac computers sold in India go to people to use at home, not businesses. A type of high-priced computer grew 8.2% in sales in 2025. Apple just made a less expensive Mac called the MacBook Neo. This might help Apple sell more computers in India.
New computers with artificial intelligence features are appearing, but people are not buying them in large numbers yet. Many businesses that bought expensive computers before are now buying computers with AI features because they cost about the same.
However, problems could happen soon. Prices might go up, and there might not be enough parts to make computers. Sales might go down about 5% in 2026, but this would still be better than many other countries. Most people in India still do not own computers, so the market has room to grow.
