Nvidia unveils DLSS 5 using AI to create realistic game graphics while aiming beyond gaming.

Santa Clara: Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang showed DLSS 5 at Nvidia GTC on Monday. This new system uses AI to make video games look more real while using less computer power.
Huang said DLSS 5 combines regular 3D graphics with AI that can guess and fill in parts of pictures. The system helps GPUs make detailed scenes and lifelike characters without drawing every part from scratch.
“We put together 3D graphics, which shows real virtual worlds, with generative AI,” Huang explained. “One is good at predicting, and the other is very realistic but uses probability.”
Huang told developers this mix lets them make beautiful and controllable content. He said combining structured data with AI will happen in many industries. “Structured data is what makes AI trustworthy,” he said.
Gaming used to be bigger for Nvidia, but now it’s smaller part of their business. Huang thinks DLSS 5’s approach will help more than just games. He sees it in enterprise computing too.
Huang pointed to companies like Snowflake and Databricks as examples. These companies have structured data that future AI could study and learn from. “Computers will be much faster than us using this data,” Huang said. “The world is mostly made of these databases.”
