LinkedIn Data Shows AI Isn’t to Blame for Hiring Decline Yet

New York: LinkedIn’s Blake Lawit says people are not getting hired as much today. He works for the big website that helps people find jobs. He spoke at a meeting about money and work this week.

He saw that fewer people have jobs now than in 2022. The number is down by 20%. But he says this is not because of computers that think like people. Many people thought AI was causing this problem.

Instead, he says higher interest rates are the real reason. Interest rates make it cost more for companies to borrow money. When this happens, companies hire less.

Lawit also looked at people who just finished school. He checked if they were having a harder time getting their first job. But the data showed they were not doing worse than other people.
