Threads Surpasses X in Daily Mobile Users According to New Market Data

City: Meta’s Threads is now used more daily on mobile than Elon Musk’s X. A report from Similarweb shows that Threads had nearly 142 million daily users on iOS and Android by January 7, 2026. Meanwhile, X had about 125 million daily mobile users.

This increase is not just about the controversies surrounding X. People are using Threads more and more because of several smart moves by Meta. They are promoting Threads on their big apps like Facebook and Instagram. They also focus on fun features for creators. In the past year, Threads added cool features like special groups, better filters, messages, long posts, and even games.

Despite the ups and downs, Threads is seeing more people use it regularly on mobile devices. Meta said Threads hit over 400 million monthly users as of August 2025. By October, they reported 150 million daily active users.

Threads has been on the rise for a while now. Last summer, Similarweb found that Threads was closing the gap with X on mobile. By late June 2025, Threads saw a growth increase of 127.8% compared to the previous year.

In the U.S., X still has more users than Threads, but the gap is shrinking. A year ago, X had double the amount of daily active users compared to now. Threads doesn’t have as many users on the web. X has steady web visits at around 150 million daily, while Threads had only about 8.5 million visits recently.
