Beatriz Villarroel, an assistant professor at the Nordic Institute for Theoretical Physics, has focused on old sky images taken before we sent satellites into space. She studied old telescope photos from before 1957. Instead of finding vanishing stars, she discovered strange objects that looked like satellites in the sky even before we launched Sputnik.
Last year, Villarroel and her team published several studies examining these near-Earth alien artifacts. Their work sparked lively discussions among scientists. Some proposed other ideas for what these strange objects could be, like errors in the tools they used or debris from past tests.
To clear up the mystery, a mission to find these artifacts in orbit around the Earth could help. This area is 22,000 miles high in space. However, Villarroel feels it might be tough to get permission from space agencies right away because this topic can be controversial.
Frank agrees that the stigma around seeking alien artifacts isn’t helpful. He believes facing some criticism is a normal part of scientific work.
