The We Are Rewind GB-001 brings retro charm and solid sound for mixtape lovers. It’s stylish but comes with a few downsides to consider.
When I tested it by recording Billie Eilish’s “Bad Guy” to tape, I found Bluetooth and line-in worked well even at full volume. On the other hand, with tape, the sound got distorted at around 75 percent volume.
We Are Rewind says this boombox creates a wider stereo sound experience. However, you need to stand in the right spot to enjoy it fully. If you move away, the sound doesn’t stay as clear.
The bass and treble controls let you adjust the sound, but be careful with headphones. They should be low-impedance and sensitive for the best results because this boombox might not get loud enough for some headphones.
While the price is on the higher side for how powerful it is, it lacks features like AM/FM radio and Bluetooth controls. But, I still really enjoy the classic feel of the GB-001. Its style and karaoke option make it a great choice for anyone wanting to relive mixtape memories. If nostalgia is worth a bit of money to you, this boombox might be worth it.
