Adobe has announced it will discontinue its 2D animation software Adobe Animate in 2026 as the company shifts focus to AI technologies

Adobe recently announced that it will stop making its Animate software. Animate has been used for creating cartoons and animations for over 25 years. The company will close the program on March 1, 2026.
Many people who use Animate are upset about this change. They worry there are no other programs quite like Animate. Some people on the internet said this change might ruin their work.
Adobe says Animate served its purpose well but now new technology is better. The company is focusing more on artificial intelligence. People who bought Adobe Animate can still use it on their computers after it closes. They just won’t get any new updates or help from Adobe.
Adobe suggests using other Adobe programs instead. This includes After Effects for complex motion and Adobe Express for simple animations. Some users suggest trying different programs like Moho Animation or Toon Boom Harmony.
Adobe charges between $23 and $34 per month for Animate. The company also offers help to big business customers until 2029. People who use Animate for their jobs may need to learn new software soon.
