Adobe reverses plan to discontinue Animate after strong customer criticism, putting the software on maintenance mode instead.

San Francisco, California: Adobe has stopped its plan to end Adobe Animate after many users spoke up. The company now says Animate will stay available for everyone.
Adobe had first said in June that Animate would stop working on March 1, 2026. People who use the software were very upset. They said there was no other program that could do all the same things Animate does.
When people complained, Adobe changed its plan. The company told users that Animate will now be in maintenance mode. This means Adobe will fix problems and keep the program safe, but will not add new tools or features.
The chief technology officer at Adobe, Ely Greenfield, said during the Adobe Summit that the anger was so strong they had to find other ways to help customers. Enterprise customers will get more detailed information from Adobe account managers.
Adobe will still sell Animate to new customers. The price is $34.49 per month for month-to-month plans. People who pay for a year ahead pay $263.88 total. The company says people who already have Animate can get future updates and license keys.
