San Francisco: An artificial intelligence chatbot named Grok has gotten better at helping players with the role-playing game Baldur’s Gate, according to recent tests by tech journalists.

The improvement came after xAI company’s CEO Elon Musk reportedly delayed product launches because he wanted the chatbot to excel at video game advice. Engineers were reassigned from other projects last year to improve Grok’s gaming responses.

When journalists tested Grok against three other major AI chatbots—ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini—with Baldur’s Gate questions, all models provided useful information. Grok used gaming terms like “DPS” and “save-scumming,” while competitors used different styles. ChatGPT preferred bullet points, Gemini bolded key words, and Claude worried about spoiling game experiences.

Though Grok performed similarly to rivals, this showed xAI could deliver results when focused. The chatbot now helps players with character strategies, party formations, and game mechanics.
