Issam Hijazi created UpScrolled as a social media platform with chronological feeds no user tracking focusing on pro-Palestinian voices. The platform grew to 5 million users with just one employee.

San Francisco: UpScrolled is a social media platform like Instagram or TikTok where people share photos and short videos. You can follow accounts and comment on posts. The founder is Issam Hijazi.
UpScrolled is different from other platforms because it shows posts in order like a newspaper rather than using computer programs to decide what you see. The company promises not to share user information with other companies that sell products. Hijazi created this because some social media companies were hiding posts about Palestinian issues.
The platform grew very fast. In February it had 2.5 million users. By now it has more than 5 million users. Hijazi started the company as his only employee.
Hijazi worked for big technology companies like Oracle and IBM for 17 years before starting this. He began coding when he was just 12 years old. He left those companies because he felt they were helping bad things happen in the world.
UpScrolled has faced criticism from groups like the Anti-Defamation League. These groups say the platform does not do enough to stop harmful content like hate speech. Many people joined during concerns about TikTok’s deal with President Trump.
