Spotify Now Lets Everyone Turn Off Videos in Its App

Spotify is rolling out new controls worldwide to let users disable all videos for an audio-only experience, following its recent expansion of video content options.

Spotify Now Lets Everyone Turn Off Videos in Its App

Spotify, a company that plays music on phones and computers, now lets everyone turn off all videos in its app.

Before this, only family plan managers could turn off videos for kids who were under 13 years old. Now, all users who pay for Spotify or use the free version can choose to have no videos in the app. To change this setting, users need to go to their account settings and find the “Content and display” option.

Once the setting is changed, it will work on phones, computers, web browsers, and TV apps. Spotify started adding more videos to its app over the last few years. They first added short moving pictures called Canvas in 2018, then video podcasts in 2020, and music videos in 2024.

The company says this new choice helps people use their app the way they want. Some people think Spotify is doing this to make regulators happy, since officials worry about how video apps affect younger people. Others just want to listen to music without any videos showing up.
