Your Push Notifications Arent Safe From the FBI

San Francisco: The FBI recently got into a defendants iPhone by using push notifications from the Signal app. Even though the Signal app was removed before the FBI got the phone the notifications were still saved in the phones memory. This shows that push notifications can give away private information.

All apps that send push notifications can have this problem not just Signal. People who use Signal can change their settings to hide message content in notifications. To do this open Signal then go to Settings and choose Notifications Change the setting to Name Only or No Name or Content.

This problem shows that security is about more than just encrypting messages. Experts say that people and companies need to think about all ways that data can be leaked. The FBI warning reminds everyone to check their app settings to keep information safe.
